Well, the weekend is here and it’s a good idea to make plans today for both entertainment for the weekend and for food. Set a budget and stick to it.
For me, a pal is getting married tomorrow, so everything will be paid for. However, the wife and kids will still need to eat, and if my prego wife feels like doing something with them, she will need to figure out what and or and amount that fits within our entertainment budget. It’s interestiong though, how many people think they have to actually spend money for entertainment, when there are truly so many things to do. For example, where I live, in Missouri, there are hundreds of state parks that are completely free, expect for the gas expense of getting there of course. The best thing besides them being free is the fact that it get’s you off your ass and outside, enjoying nature. You can pack a nice lunch and head out for a day adventure, either walking or hiking or just sight seeing. You’d be amazed what’s in your own backyard. You should surely check out your state’s conservation department, they have tons of info and free stuff in your area – you’d be crazy not to check it out. The zoo in St. Louis is completely free too. Check out your local zoo to see if it’s free for you. Sometimes though, the weather isn’t cooperative. If you live in a metropolitan area, there are free museums and libraries usually within distance to most major bus lines.
One of my favorite spots around town is the St. Louis Magic center, it does cost however, but honestly, if you look for coupons in the entertainment books, and or through the newspaper, you’re certain to find some discounts. We make it a once or twice a year trip and the cost is under $35 for a family of 5.
So, set your goals now for the weekend, and see how well you hold up. Make certain to list only the things you will buy and how much they will cost, so you force your animal into hybernation.
On a lighter note, we’ve found out that our 4th child in the womb is a whopping 8 lbs and 12 oz, and my wife will be induced Monday night. I may have to take off a day or two from writing at that time, but I’ll be certain to fill you in on the details when I get back.
Until tomorrow, you’re in control, not the reptile brain.
