I have a question, what did commercial trucking companies do during the depression. Groceries still need to be delivered, with the fuel shortage, how is that possible?

I think Funny Money, like myself, was looking for business start-up ideas. I expect you will receive more like-minded surfers doing the same. And that's encouraging, unlike everything else I see.

I like your article and think your in the right mindset and each individual can tweak your suggestions to implement their own specialized investment theory.
*I expect McDonalds will flourish in the next decade - sob : (

The goal of "investments" is future return on value. Buy Silver bullion! Have a six month food and water reserve for your family. If you can't put aside food for the future then why are you looking at stocks? And silver or gold solid assets can never hurt you. I'm not saying put all your money in gold, but 25% of your investments should be in hard physical assets not play paper. Let me explain - Gold is Gold is Gold it will always be valuable, its preciousness does not flucuate. GOLD HAS NOT INCREASED IN VALUE, The dollar has crashed.

*Funny Money - don't kid yourself, this is in no way a depression, it is a recession. Albeit may lead to a depression so prepare! As I am sure anyone reading this article is trying to accomplish just that..

I am a 30yr old business owner, fiscally conservative and already against the next war.

Anyone want to talk? alphawolfeenterprises@ymail.com

That's great, but what about small businesses? I just came from a meeting of local small business owners. The association itself has lost members because many active members can no longer afford the modest membership fees. Those who remain are all suffering in the depression (let's call a spade a spade here: what we're seeing is not a "recession").

What small business endeavors survived the Depression and made enough to support entrpreneurs? What strategies did they use to keep afloat?
