If you know of fraudulent activity and report it, the IRS will give you a cut of the proceeds. If you feel you have information and documentation to back up your report, the IRS would be extremely interested in hearing from you. You can contact the IRS toll free at 1-800-829-0433 if you suspect tax fraud.

With regards to your 1099 question, I'm unsure how what you've done would be considered fraudulent. You're simply receiving money from them for work performed, and claiming your children as deductions. The only way you would be pulled into this is if you actively participated in criminal and or fraudulent activity. A call to the IRS may clear your mind and make you feel better, it's all up to you, but from what you've said, it doesn't seem like you have anything to worry about.

I know of groups of people changing there incomes by 40% to keep that tax money. They have been doing it for over 20 years. They have a shady accountant who deals with all of them knowing its fraudulent. She allows them to claim personal phone bills and pay themselves as officers. As well as claim vehicles not even in there names or paying on. I have morals and have never took part in this. I knew too much and didn't want any part of it. I never changed a single number in my life. I never signed the business account for taxes but I did sign 1099 claiming our children. Should I report or will they go after me for signing 1099?
